Attached to the MARS District building is this Mercatto Italian restaurant. Came here for lunch, food tasted delicious. We had their soup of the day, which was a squash based soup with a piece of toast. Ordered the Carbonara pasta and pan seared Rainbow Trout. Finished off with Lemon and Olive Oil cake. Service was on point as the wait staff was courteous and took care of our table accordingly. Decor and atmosphere is modern contemporary.

I hosted corporate dinner event at this location at the end of February and couldn't have been more impressed with the level of service, food and the booking process. I reserved the back space of the restaurant that was private but not entirely closed off from the restaurant so it was a really nice vibe. Ivy who was my point of contact was extremely helpful, she provided thoughtful suggestions and recommendations based on our discussions. The onsite team was amazing and so attentive, they worked quickly to ensure guests always had food, refreshments and anything else they needed. Everyone enjoyed the food, they had a great selection and everything was so delicious! This location was incredible to work with from start to finish. I'm looking forward to planning more events here!

Tucked off behind a grove of trees and nestled at the edge of college street within walking distance of many downtown hospitals and Queen’s Park is a gem of a restaurant. It’s located in the MARS building. The inside has a modern inviting atmosphere but they have a comfortable patio that we chose to eat our dinner on under the bistro lights. Service was exemplary and quick with lovely suggestions for our meal choices. The warm bread appetizer with basil and grana padano should not be missed and we ate it so fast I missed taking a photo to share it was that good. The pepperoni pizza was scrumptious for our birthday girl. The linguine di mare was perfect for our seafood lover. The chitarra alla carbonara gave me memories of Roma. The beef burger was a thumbs up for my teenager and was presented exactly how he got it in our travels in France last Spring. Highly recommend!

The food was very good, not too salty which I find can be an issue for some Italian restaurants. Service was impeccable. I was catered to without hesitation or questions. Definitely will dine here again!

An exceptional lunch erstablishment with well prepared and proportioned food and great service. It lacks perhaps some of the “experiential” component that might make it as good for dinner - it has a little of an open cafeteria feel - but don’t let that scare you. For breakfast or lunch, this is a 10/10. And not expensive and you are on your way quickly if that suits you, or hang for a decaf Americano if that’s your style too!

Second Mercatto I have been to in Toronto and found a similar but slight different vibe from the other. ( not sure which one I went to, if you care, check my reviews from last year) I had the same thing as before because I raved about the lasagna so much and had to try it again. I was pleasantly surprised that it was mostly the same, with actually more ricotta (or mascarpone) in the layers. The salad was actually better than the first, better dressed. I had the gelato and still crave a pistachio flavour when dining Italian. Will be back! My friends raved about their meals including the well done steak, looked over done to me but she said it was perfect for her! Well done again Mercatto

Had a difficult day at the hospital, and found this gem at College/Elizabeth St. by chance...beautiful decor and friendly staff welcomed us and got our lunch order quickly. Kevin is an absolute rockstar of a server! Friendly and knowledgeable but most noticeably passionate about his job and connecting with people. Our experience was truly made by him. Thank you! You made us smile and enjoy lunch that much more. Food is exceptional - tried tomato crostini and arancini (1000/10) , mushroom pizza, bolognese pasta, tiramisu and chocolate almond cake. Yes we ate it all and washed it down with a latte and a black coffee. Will be back for sure!
